Tony Eardley

Welcome to the website of Tony Eardley, folk-roots artist and songwriter based in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney, Australia.

Tony is a lyrical and poetic songwriter, and has been a regular performer at festivals and clubs in NSW and beyond. In August 2007 he released his long-awaited debut CD Desire Lines, which featured a group of great Australian folk and roots performers. Reviewing Desire Lines in the Sydney Morning Herald, Bruce Elder wrote: "This is a remarkable CD from one of the most talented performers on the Australian folk and festival scene. Listen and be amazed at how rich and intelligent modern folk can be" (SMH, 1 December 2007). In 2008, Tony was a top five finalist in the World/Folk category of the Music Oz awards with his song Portugal Beach.

For 10 years Tony was a member of the enigmatic Spooky Men’s Chorale and performed regularly with them at festivals and events both in Australia and overseas. He was previously also a member of several other choral groups, including the Solidarity Choir and Ecopella.

Tony has been off the road for some years, having belatedly become a father and step-father, but he is now venturing back into performing, with a clutch of new songs and some old favourites.

One of these new songs, 'Sally Cross the Water', won him the 2016 Alistair Hulett Memorial Trust Songs for Social Justice Award, presented at the National Folk Festival.

This year Tony has been booked to play at the National in Canberra over Easter.
